The first thing Phillip wants anyone to know about him is that he is a follower of Jesus Christ who by His great Grace saved him from his sins. In September 2018 Phillip joined the Pastoral team here at Elkton Baptist Church and God has given him a passion for teaching God’s word to the students of the Community. He is happily married to the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Davis, who is both his partner in life and in ministry, and together they have 3 fur babies (1 cat and 2 dogs). He is passionate about coffee, exploring the outdoors, and the game of chess, each of which he enjoys sharing with others.
In his time in ministry he has often found philosophies to be more effective than programs and so Phillip’s philosophy of ministry is simply to obey the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20. We as believers are called to make disciples of Christ and teach them His commands as we find them in Scripture. As the student Pastor of Elkton Baptist his aim is to teach our students the Biblical foundations necessary for our Christian life and walk alongside them as they begin living out their faith. To that end he has pursued Biblical education and now holds a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Truett McConnell University, a place where God used faithful men to prepare him to teach the truth of God’s word to His people.
